Introduction 

Health and safety law requires employers to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety, and welfare of their employees—including both physical and mental health—and to promote safety as a shared responsibility among everyone working in the screen sector. Employers are also legally required to hold Employer’s Liability (Compulsory Insurance) to cover claims from employees who are injured or become ill as a result of their work. 

In the UK, these laws are enforced by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which oversees workplace safety with the responsibility of ensuring productions meet legal standards; this includes a requirement that accidents and injuries must be reported to the HSE under RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations).
