Module: Understanding Unfair Dismissal

Unfair dismissal occurs when an employer terminates an employee’s contract without a valid reason or fails to follow proper procedures. In Great Britain, the Employment Rights Act 1996 (ERA 1996) protects employees against unfair dismissal, with specific safeguards against dismissal due to pregnancy, whistleblowing, or trade union activities from day one of employment.

This mini e-learning module introduces the concept of unfair dismissal, outlines employee rights under the ERA 1996, and provides general guidance on the procedures employers must follow. Remember, nothing on this platform constitutes legal advice.
